AXYS Arena
AXYS¢ç T-2212 and B-218
The AXYS¢ç Arena System is a touring system
with enormous sound pressure level capability
and true high fidelity characteristics. It is
remarkably small sized and easy to handle; system
set-up can easily be done by two persons within
15 minutes. When a flying system is required,
the integrated flying hardware along with the
integrated control electronics and power amplifiers
guarantee an easy job. The AXYS¢ç Arena System
is the ultimate choice for any large venue,
from classical performances to heavy rock&roll
concerts.
System Development
Years of extensive research combined with our
well known fine workmanship has enabled us to
design and build the Arena System without compromises.
The AXYS¢ç R&D team has succeeded in developing
a light weight composite material which is capable
of tolerating very high air pressure levels
without deforming. This innovation, along with
the use of the latest 900 series ferrofluid¢ç
, allowed us to construct a two inch driver
with immense power handling capability which
reproduces signals up to 18k Hz without cone
breakup effects. Sound pressure levels exceeding
140 dB are easily produced, while maintaining
very linear behavior. We applied our proprietary
horn designing software and the CNC routing
station of our cabinet production facility to
create the two inch and twelve inch horns used
in the T-2212.The very well defined dispersion
patterns allow the mid/high cabinets to be positioned
horizontally without phase interference effects.
The cabinet shape corresponds exactly with
the opening angle, thus allowing the units to
be placed tight together for a true point source.
Special attention has been paid to the design
of the power amplifiers, the control circuits,
and the protection circuits to ensure proper
tuning throughout the system¡¯s extremely wide
dynamic range. A Multi-band Dynamic Level Control
(MDLC) protects against excessive long term
power. A Subsonic Spectrum Control (SSC) monitors
the input for signals below 30 Hz and adjusts
the subsonic filter to keep cone displacement
within well defined values. Each driver is driven
by its own power amplifier. The amplifiers are
protected against high temperature, dc, and
excessive mains voltage. Status is indicated
by LED's on the front and rear sides.
System Description
A system consists of three T-2212 mid/high
cabinets and two B-218 subwoofer cabinets on
each side. This results in a system with an
opening angle of 96¡Æ horizontal x 32¡Æ vertical,
able to generate a SPL of 138 dB continuous
and 143 dB peak. The T-2212 is equipped with
two twelve inch horns loaded with drivers of
proprietary design and the high-tech two inch
driver and specially developed horn described
above. A ventilation system prevents heat build-up
in the compression chambers of the cone drivers.
The B-218 is a vented bandpass cabinet equipped
with two eighteen inch drivers in a push-pull
configuration which cancels all mechanically
induced distortion. This design provides an
extremely tight bass response. All electronics
are housed in a solid heatsink chassis mounted
in the backs of the cabinets. The physical size
of the units is identical (146x54x76cm) except
for the trapezoidal shape of the T-2212. The
system includes a set of flight cases to ensure
a lifetime of reliability. Dedicated approved
flying hardware is available as an option.
